Understanding the Knowledge of God

**Introduction:**

Grasping the breadth of God’s knowledge and power is a profound journey of faith. Often, our understanding is limited by what we see and experience, causing us to underestimate God’s capabilities. The story of Lazarus’ resurrection is a powerful biblical event that illustrates the vastness of God’s knowledge and His ability to transcend our expectations.

**Martha’s Limited Understanding:**

In John 11, Martha confronts Jesus with a statement of despair, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days” (John 11:39). Martha’s understanding of death as an irreversible end was about to be shattered. Jesus responded not just with words but with a miraculous act that would forever change how she viewed life and death.

**Expanding Our Understanding of God:**

– **Isaiah 55:8-9** reminds us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
– **Ephesians 3:20** also tells us that God is able to do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”

**Call to Action:**

– **Seek Deeper Understanding:** Regularly invest time in prayer and Bible study to grow in your understanding of God’s nature.
– **Trust in God’s Power:** Encourage yourself to trust God more fully, especially in situations that seem impossible.
– **Share God’s Works:** Use your personal experiences and the stories of biblical characters like Martha to share with others how God’s knowledge surpasses our own.

**Prayer Point:**

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your infinite wisdom and power. Help us to deepen our understanding of You and to trust in Your ways, even when they are beyond our comprehension. May our lives reflect the confidence that comes from knowing You are capable of all things, even those that seem impossible to us. Teach us to rely on Your understanding rather than our own. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
